A tree and a cow alone near a pond

First day of "big brush class" at the art league. This class is aimed at expressive large strokes with large brushes. As the teacher says, "If an artist's brush strokes are concealed then they are showing off" Of course I don't know if I particularly agree or disagree with that sentiment since plenty of artists can show off through the use of brush strokes also. Zen art, taking as few brushstrokes as imaginable, prides itself on being able to still capture the full quality and expressiveness of the subject within the missing information. I am pretty proud of this piece, having done it in a nice limited palette and completed in 3 hours. It is reasonably large at 24x30 inches. Acrylic.

  1. Excellent impressionism that conveys the calm, stillness, peace, and solitude, of a Winter's day. Interesting use of the pallette, quite an impressive piece for a 3 hour endeavor!
