Showing @ Kwench Juice in Campbell!
It is with great excitement and serendipity that I've come into the honor of being the first artist to show at in Campbell.
There are possibilities to be part of their artwalk downtown, which I have never done before! My little bird bones quiver with anticipation of flapping these artist wings and taking to the SKY!! :)
As a side note of trivia, two of the largest pieces to date are featured in their downtown location @ 428 E Campbell Ave

explorations
Practicing a bit of beehive texture from some apparently freaky bees.
Ultimately these are potential backgrounds for the final project in a class by Lisa Cyr.
Pan pastel, On paper.
mood board.
I keep thinking its called a "memory board". could be a :dream" board or some complicated non verbal story from my subconscious self to my conscious self.
Anyway here is the new ponder plate.
First time of setting one up with a particular ending piece.

color wheeling
Getting used to some new paints.
These are Da Vinci Oils recommended by teacher Ron Lemen.
Love these paints, so creamy and pleasant.

pastel lotus horse
This one is not quite with us anymore. In a notion to seal the pastels in, I foolishly began to drizzle gel medium on the piece thinking the gel would just sort of sit nicely on top of the pastel and then glue it all down once it was gingerly spread across the panel.
That did happen.
I would show you what did happen but it is somewhat obscene.
If the piece is salvageable it will be reworked and then update on its recovery shall become available.
Plan B is to re-do the whole thing over.

The angler.
So I had this idea about ladies that were based on horrifying deep sea fish.
Here is one of them and the incarnations to the final.
Sometimes an idea has to go through a lot of phases that are very different from one another.
An angry Carousel
Big Brush class again today... decided on another oil. One of my favorite subjects here on display in colorful fantasy.
One of the goals of this class is to make the lines very loose and non-realistic so I am working on that.
My reference photo had completely insane anatomy that made no sense for a real horse so I did take some artistic license to make him slightly more believable.
Still need to do a few finishing touches on this one.

A rooster leaning on a fence by a lighthouse.
Big brush class again today. Decided to bring a larger canvas than last week and try another landscape since the previous one was so successful.
This is a 30 x 40 and in oil. I don't consider this quite complete yet but haven't figured out the last motions I'd like to make to it.
Still happy with the result, especially because my reference photo was in black and white.

A tree and a cow alone near a pond
First day of "big brush class" at the art league. This class is aimed at expressive large strokes with large brushes.
As the teacher says, "If an artist's brush strokes are concealed then they are showing off"
Of course I don't know if I particularly agree or disagree with that sentiment since plenty of artists can show off through the use of brush strokes also.
Zen art, taking as few brushstrokes as imaginable, prides itself on being able to still capture the full quality and expressiveness of the subject within the missing information.
I am pretty proud of this piece, having done it in a nice limited palette and completed in 3 hours.
It is reasonably large at 24x30 inches. Acrylic.
